A good way of saving energy is by bringing the food to room temperature before putting it in the refrigerator, by putting the food at high temperature inside, the refrigerator needs to work harder to cool the food. The other way to save energy is by changing the thermostat in correspondence with the seasons for e.g. during summer the thermostat can be medium and in winters can be towards high.
Tip 4 - Car,

Roll up the car windows before switching the car air conditioner; this will help in saving a lot of energy.
Tip 3 - Washing Machines,

Try using cold water instead of hot water for pre cycle washes, and use cold water specific detergent while washing clothes which are designed to get most of the dirt out without using hot water. Using cold water instead of hot water helps in saving a lot of energy/electricity.
Tip 2 - TV,
24 Aug 2010

When we are done watching TV we usually switch it off from the remote and forget it, but we do not realize that the TV is still using electricity as it is not completely switched off. Nowadays, many of us have satellite or cable connections and mostly we do not completely switch off the cable box when we are done watching TV. Turning off the electricity supply of the cable box and TV when we are done will help us save energy.
Tip 1 - Computers,

Leaving the computer running day and night consumes a lot of energy. Shutting the computer down and leaving the monitor on also consumes a lot of energy. Switching off the computer at the end of the work day and at home after use helps in saving precious non renewable energy. If the computer is not being used then switch it off.
